The Story Behind Bed by Eight
Bed by Eight was born from a journey that began in the halls of university, where I dedicated myself to studying law. As I reached my final year, I found myself at a crossroads, grappling with the realization that the legal profession wasn’t my true calling. Despite the years of hard work and commitment, I felt a stronger pull towards something that ignited my passion: designing activewear that beautifully combined chic aesthetics with exceptional quality.
The inspiration for Bed by Eight came during my own fitness journey, where I was training six times a week. I quickly realized that the activewear available to me often fell short. I struggled to find pieces that could withstand the rigors of my workouts—leggings that held up, washed well, and didn’t require constant readjustment. After months of searching for the perfect pair, I found some decent options, but nothing met my standards. I wanted leggings that not only complemented my body but also supported me through every squat, run, and stretch.
With this newfound clarity and frustration, I set out on a mission to create activewear that could withstand the rigors of a hard workout while still looking stylish. I envisioned pieces that would empower individuals to feel confident, whether they were hitting the gym or enjoying a day out. However, the path to realizing this dream was not without its challenges.
Over the course of three years, I poured my heart and soul into perfecting my designs. I dedicated countless hours to testing my products in the gym, putting them through tough conditions to ensure they would perform. There were many samples I wasn’t satisfied with, and that’s why the journey took so long. I didn’t want to release just anything; it had to be perfect. Otherwise, the whole reason for starting Bed by Eight would have been lost.
After trying the products out for myself, I realized that I needed to ensure my opinion wasn’t biased. I created a few more samples and sent them out to friends and family for testing. They provided valuable feedback, suggesting minor adjustments to sizing. However, I wanted to go further. To gain a more critical perspective, I sent additional samples to trainers—those for whom training is a lifestyle. When I received their positive feedback, coupled with constructive criticism, I knew the products were finally ready to launch.
During those challenging times, the unwavering support of my friends and family became my anchor. Their encouragement and belief in my vision helped me push through setbacks and kept the spark of inspiration alive.
Finally, after many iterations, I discovered the right materials and designs that not only met my vision but also resonated with the diverse community I wanted to serve. The culmination of this relentless pursuit came to fruition with our first drop. Core black 001
